More than just a race, the Grand National tests courage, endurance and ability, producing some of the most iconic stories in sport. Across the challenging fences at Aintree, there have been fairytale wins, dramatic upsets and gallant efforts that have come close to glory. Here at GrandNationalHorses.Net we celebrates all of the above in thanks to what they have brought us.
We focus on the likes of three time winner Red Rum (1973, 1974, 1977) and Tiger Roll (himself winning twice in a row in 2018 and 2019) who are unrivalled in their abilities, but also give time to outsider winners who defied the odds to show that there is no such thing as a nailed on favourite, or a no hoper. The first 100/1 shot to win the Grand National in 1967, Foinavon, ended up with a fence named after him due to his shock win. In more recent years another 100/1 outsider, Mon Mome, shocked the racing world when he took the title in 2009.
The site is home to stories that live long in the memory, not just a list of winners. Significant horses, memorable performances, incredible stories and dramatic moments all form part of the Aintree Grand National and it’s legacy.
